AK-47.net: Hesse Model 47

The Hesse Model 47 rifle is an AKM copy manufactured in the United States by Hesse Arms Co.  The rifle features a sixteen inch barrel and fires the 7.62x39 cartridge.  The model 47 comes with a pistol grip synthetic stock, sling, five round magazine, and cleaning kit. The rifles are assembled on a stamped receiver by tig-welding parts to the receiver. The rifles are finished in flat black and only come in semi-automatic versions.  A muzzle brake has been welded to the barrel to help control muzzle climb and comply with U.S. law.  The Model 47 is not a widely produced gun and is available from the manufacturer.

Known Problems:

We have had many reports from AK-47.net members claiming that their model 47's have experienced numerous problems.  We believe that this is attributed to the guns construction and the parts used to manufacturer the gun.  First the rifles are welded together instead of using rivets.  The AK was not designed to be assembled in this manner, which could contribute to some of the problems people are experiencing. Second the rifles are assembled on U.S. made receivers which have problems of their own.  The receivers are properly heat treated, resulting in soft receivers.  Some owners have noticed considerable wear after as little as 2000 rounds.  Owners have also reported soft trigger components and poor quality synthetic stocks.  We would not suggest that you purchase this rifle based on it's reliability problems.
